An Open Heart with a Bold Silhouette
This corten steel heart sculpture has a simple three-dimensional design. Two rounded sides form the heart shape and meet at a pointed top. The open center lets you see the garden, sky or wall behind the sculpture.
The frame is about 40 cm deep. This gives the sculpture a solid structure and clear depth. The heart shape looks clean from the front, while the side view shows the full thickness of the steel.
Built from Thick Corten Steel
We use 4–6 mm thick corten steel plate to make this heart sculpture. Our welders cut the steel with a laser, bend each section into shape and weld the joints together. They then grind the welds smooth and check the surface.
The corten steel heart sculpture comes with a 45 × 45 cm black steel base. The base supports the full weight of the sculpture and has slotted holes for secure installation. You can bolt it to a concrete surface or fix it to a buried concrete footing.
Rust Color That Deepens with the Seasons
Corten steel develops a natural protective rust layer when exposed to the weather. The surface starts with a bright orange tone and gradually changes to deeper red, russet and brown shades. Sun and rain affect the color over time, giving each corten steel sculpture a slightly different finish.
Corten steel requires little maintenance. During the first few months, loose rust may come off the surface, and rainwater can leave orange stains on nearby ground. We recommend placing the sculpture on gravel, concrete or another surface where staining is not a concern.
As the protective patina develops, the surface becomes more stable and rust runoff decreases. After that, you only need to rinse the sculpture with water when dust builds up. For coastal locations, occasional rinsing also helps remove salt from the surface.
