The leaf is the base of the design. It has a smooth curve and a clear center line, like a real leaf. The eight birds rise from its tip in a loose line, each at a different angle. Some climb, some glide, and their wings stay open. The line of birds carries the eye upward, so the sculpture looks taller than its footprint. Our craftsmen cut each bird and the leaf from stainless steel sheet. They bend the leaf into one smooth, tapered curve. They shape every wing by hand, so each bird keeps its own outline and angle.
Next, our welders fix the eight birds to the support structure. Before they close each joint, they check the bird’s height, spacing and direction. The flock then looks balanced from the front, the sides and the back.
Last, our craftsmen grind the welds and round the edges. They give the whole surface an even matte finish. The matte surface gives the leaf and birds a soft, quiet look. It scatters the light, so you see the form even under strong sun. It also hides water marks and fingerprints better than a mirror finish.
